NEITHER HERE NOR THERE OR ANYWHERE

All facets are assembled in this filmmaker without losing any role in this documentary. His career as a composer through the beauty and through its deep expressiveness of the original music becomes the protagonist of the story for which it was conceived, the experience as a documentary is evident in the successful resolution of the complexities involved the diversity of origin of the materials with whom he made the film NEITHER HERE, NOR THERE NOR ANYWHERE.

His  participation in organizations of human rights , social and political activities are present here since choosing the topic till to the human condition to appeal to the conscience, and in this way, be a powerful tool that works with the efforts and struggles of populations far away in the distance but united in a common goal: the defense of life.

THE SOUND OF VOICES (2012)

This is a film made with heart. This documentary is a work that basically questioned.

It is an attempt to clear up the doubt that remains after death but that was not a death if not a disappearing.

We meet friends and activists´ fellows of Maria Esther and Nestor, Laura's parents and grandparents of my daughters Maria and Magdalene.

We try to rebuild  unknown aspects of their lives for us.

“The sounds of the voices” is a tribute  but also it is a necessary mourning that  allowed us to alleviate this loss with tears

We also wanted to show the continuity of four generations and the effort so that in a near future something that now is extraordinary becomes in a daily thing ...

DEEP SONGS (for orchestra)

On "De Profundis" by Oscar Wilde

Autumn Season Symphony Concerts, 2014

Montevideo Philharmonic Orchestra

Directed by Daniel Hasaj.

San Agustin Church in Montevideo (April 9, 2014)

In this work for Symphony Orchestra by Luis Rojas perhaps the challenge is how to keep the stripped nature, lacking and with few resources, using only the orchestral resources.

At the  beginning, it has a light character that we could link up to Impressionism.   Then we assist to episode extremely sonorous  where the metals are the starring.    Since there and as the work proceeds everything seems quiet down,  dwarfed and at the same time deepened.

This process is accompanied by surprises for the listener, as the constant changes in this work take us into a world that seems predictable but it is not.    Underlies the desire to descend keeping down the essentials.   Or "discovering" the essential.   When we believe something will happen we are soft and suddenly and  surprisingly disappointed in our expectation.

Perhaps the composer wants to remind us that music "is there" , music is not directed towards

And that "being there" takes us into a deep sadness.
